Advanced File Worker is a file management utility. It can copy, move, delete, or delete files from any of your computer's folders. When I first saw "Advanced" in the title of this program I expected the program to be complex. And I wasn't wrong. All of its functions are script based, which gives the user more flexibility in configuring the software. By "script based" I mean that each operation is written into a proprietary file which can be executed, much like an executable file, from the program's interface. This enables the user to compile a list of operations and execute them whenever he or she wants. Scheduling any script is done using the "Schedule" tab of the program's interface.

The operations can be defined by clicking the "Delete", "Copy/Move", "Rename", or "Backup" tab. When you want to add a certain operation to the script, you should just click the " -> Script" button. You'll be automatically redirected to the "Script" tab, and you'll be able to see the operation, encoded. Each encoded operation starts with a tag defined between brackets (ex: "[copy]", "[move]").

Delete operations can be set to send files to the recycle bin, or to delete empty folders. When batch copying, moving or renaming files you have the option to create a subfolder where the files will appear. The subfolder or the renamed files can be configured to have a special filename containing the date or an incremental number. There is another feature which enables the user to add any predefined script to the right click menu, although I didn't find it very useful.

Pluses: Filters can be added, so only certain files will be processed from a folder. Filtering can take into account the file size and file date. The program can also be set to filter images depending on their resolution.

Drawbacks / flaws: Although the program didn't show any errors, I wasn't able to backup any of my hard disk's folders. Also, the program sometimes locks if there are typing errors in the scripts, never showing an error message.

In conclusion: Although the backup option doesn't work, and the script engine isn't so good, this program can still be used for batch copying, moving or renaming or for scheduling this kind of operations. I myself am looking forward to the program's next version.
